The Weekly Meme Roundup: 100 Men vs. 1 Gorilla, It's Gonna Be May, Vladimir Stop, Flame Atronach And More

We know you're getting ready to be one of the 100 men fighting a gorilla, so we've prepared some memes to help take the stress off.
But these aren't just any memes — these are five of the biggest memes of the past week, including a certain president's desperate plea for Vladimir to stop, a series of memes about risking burns to get with a Flame Atronach and the yearly explosion of "It's Gonna Be May" memes, which felt especially prominent this time around.
Without further ado, here are five of the best memes of the past week that you need to pay attention to.
100 Men vs. 1 Gorilla
Everybody loves a good "Who would win?" scenario, and this week, the internet used the trend to debate who would win in a fight: 100 men or 1 gorilla?
@yuri5kpt2 my man saying the gorilla win and another saying the 100 men 🤣
It's not necessarily the most important debate to have, but it proved a lot of fun last week as people across social media heatedly argued for their chosen side. Many seem to believe that a single gorilla could easily sweep 100 men, while others think it would only be able to take out so many of the 100 men before it got tired and swarmed by the remaining combatants.
The reality is that we'll never know who would win … well, unless MrBeast takes the opportunity to do the funniest thing of all time and make it a reality.
The scenario was originally proposed by a TikToker back in 2022 but only took off in the last week, inspiring big-time content creators, brands and now, even the White House Twitter account to get in on the fun (or ruin it).

It's Gonna Be May
It's now officially May, and if you've been on the internet since 2012, you know what that means: It's time to break out the ol' reliable "It's Gonna Be May" memes.

Every year since 2012, in late April, social media goes crazy for this Justin Timberlake-inspired series of memes that play off the lyrics from the hit NSYNC song "It's Gonna Be Me."
The joke is that it sounds like Justin sings "may" instead of "me." It's simple, but it's effective, and it's something that many meme-lovers look forward to every year, much like other seasonal memes (we're looking at you, Mariah Carey).
This year was no exception, as people dusted off those old "moldy memes": to remind everyone that it was, in fact, gonna be May. Lance Bass and Joey Fatone even made a public comment on the explosion of memes, which you can check out here if you're curious to know what the NSYNC members think about it.
Now it is May and Timberlake has been tucked back into its spot on the meme shelf. See you next year, ramen-hair era Timberlake.

Vladimir, Stop!
Late last week, U.S. President Donald Trump made an unexpected, daring move to stop the war in Ukraine by directly addressing Russian President Vladimir Putin on Truth Social and telling him, "Vladimir, stop!"

Unfortunately, the President's bold plea did not end the war, but it did inspire a whole lot of memes on social media. A lot of people saw the president's message as a bit pointless and drew humor from the idea of Russia deciding to stop the war after simply being told to stop.
It's certainly not a tactic any president has tried in any serious capacity before, so maybe it was worth a go. On the other hand, it gave the President's haters an excuse to Photoshop him in all sorts of uncompromising positions with Putin, who is typically shown as the more dominant man in the situation, refusing to listen to Trump's pleas.
It's all very grim when you get down to it, but the idea behind it is arguably funny, and that mixture is something the Trump administration has perfected over the years (whether intentionally or not).

Side Shot Nominate 6 Trend
Instagram users everywhere found themselves confused this past week as they found themselves nominated for the "Side Shot Nominate 6" trend with no knowledge of what that even means.
@grassisgreenerovahere side shot what?? #sideshot #fypシ #trend #instagram #confused ♬ Adopt Me Night soundtrack – Adopt Me! Soundtrack
Essentially, the trend has participants share "side shot" photos of themselves and nominate six other people to do the same. Mostly, the trend is done by sports players, but it's evolved since then, and now, anyone and everyone seems to be getting in on it.
Currently, the trend is inspiring other "nominate 6" trends, like "face card nominate 6" and "4 fits nominate 6." If you're a social media-addicted teen with a certain level of confidence, it's probably a pretty fun time.
The trend is mostly performed on Instagram. Meanwhile, on TikTok, users are posting videos criticizing the trend and expressing how little they know about it. Some TikTokers are also making fun of people for posting "side shots" that aren't even side shots. Pathetic.

Flame Atronach and Fire Resistance Potion
Gamers are still hooked on Oblivion: Remastered right now, and they've revived a thirsty meme about Flame Atronachs and fire resistance potions in celebration.

The memes first started popping up online back in 2021 and have spread like wildfire since, going viral across multiple subreddits and social media platforms in recent years.
The idea behind the memes is that the Flame Atronach enemy and summon from The Elder Scrolls games is hot (literally) and players are willing to take potions of resist fire to hook up with her.
Now, according to the games, Flame Atronachs are much more interested in melting your skin than going on a date, which is why some of the most viral examples of the meme show a player buying a Flame Atronach summoning scroll with their resist fire potions, making for the most awkward purchase in all of Tamriel.
The meme was rekindled this week thanks to the release of the Oblivion remaster, which includes an updated Flame Atronach model that many players seem to be enjoying with a burning passion.
