Jovial Merryment, also spelled Jovial Merriment, is the name of a virtual orange horse competing in Horse Race Tests, a virtual horse racing competition run by the X / Twitter account @snakesandrews. The horse with the most wins across all races as of mid-April 2025, Jovial Merryment, spawned both humorous fandom and anti-fandom online and has inspired memes, fan art, GOAT montages and fancams.
Origin
On April 1st, 2025, X[1] user Horse Race Tests (@snakesandrews) tweeted, "New prototype," showing a game of colored horse icons bouncing around in a maze. The tweet received over 80 reposts and 920 likes in eight days (shown below). In the following days, @snakesandrews posted videos of multicolored horses competing against each other to reach a stack of carrots at the end of the maze. On April 3rd, 2025, @snakesandrews posted[2] the first race won by the orange horse. The video (shown below) garnered over 780 reposts and 6,200 likes in two weeks.

On April 6th, 2025, the orange horse won again in Test Horse Race 6,[3] with the name of the horse, Jovial Merryment, revealed on the victory screen. The race (shown below) garnered over 1.8 million views, 2,000 reposts and 21,000 likes on X in two weeks.

As of April 17th, 2025, Jovial Merryment had the highest winning percentage among all virtual horses that participated in the races, winning five out of ten races to date.[4][5] Horse's dominant performance in the races has been a popular subject of memes on X / Twitter in April 2025.
On April 3rd, 2025, X[6] user @johnnys74231614 posted one of the earliest memes featuring the orange horse, calling it "his chud son". The post (shown below) received over 20 reposts and 270 likes in two weeks.

In the following weeks, as Jovial Merryment achieved more victories, the virtual horse became a viral subject of memes and GOAT montages. For example, on April 7th, 2025, after Jovial Merryment's second win, X[7] user @DullanBoi_Real posted an edited image of the orange horse performing a dunk. The post (shown below) garnered over 160 reposts and 2,400 likes in ten days.

On April 10th, following Jovial Merryment's fourth win, X[8] user @biggart_ posted a GOAT montage dedicated to the horse. The video received over 1,900 reposts and 11,000 likes in one week (shown below).

The horse's strong performance in the races also inspired humorous anti-fandom jokes about Jovial Merryment relying on steroids to win.
